Quinidine Base is a pharmaceutical agent which is extracted from the bark of cinchona tree. It is a class I antiarrhythmic agent used to prevent ventricular arrhythmias. This compound has chemical formula C20H24N2O2 with molar mass of 324.417 g/mol. In combination with dextromethorphan, Quinidine Base is known to reduce symptoms of pseudobulbar affect in people with multiple & amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is a stereoisomer of quinine which works by blocking sodium & potassium currents across the cellular membranes.
